what to know about cycling in slovenia

WHAT GEARING SHOULD I HAVE?

Slovenia is a beautiful but mountainous country, and this tour includes plenty of climbing — the reward is the incredible scenery that comes with it.

We recommend a gravel bike equipped with a compact or sub-compact gearing setup that allows you to comfortably spin on longer climbs. A wider gear range will make the riding more enjoyable, particularly on the Alpine stages and longer ascents.

A setup similar to a 40–46T rear cassette is ideal, with many riders choosing a 1x or 2x gravel configuration depending on personal preference.

The most important thing is having gearing that allows you to ride comfortably for several hours whilst enjoying the climbs.
