Tasmania offers excellent cycling conditions from spring through autumn, with each season providing a distinctly different experience.
Spring (September–November)
Spring transforms Tasmania into a vibrant landscape of green pastures, wildflowers and flowing rivers. Temperatures typically range from 10–20°C (50–68°F), creating comfortable riding conditions while avoiding the larger summer crowds. It's an ideal time for cyclists seeking quieter roads and fresh, colourful scenery.
Summer (December–February)
Summer brings longer days and warmer temperatures, generally ranging between 18–28°C (64–82°F). Coastal regions are particularly pleasant, while the cooler mountain air provides welcome relief during longer climbs. This is the perfect season for combining cycling with Tasmania's beaches, vineyards and exceptional food scene.
Autumn (March–April)
Autumn is arguably Tasmania's finest cycling season. Stable weather, comfortable temperatures and spectacular autumn colours combine to create unforgettable riding conditions. Vineyards begin harvest, forests turn brilliant shades of gold and red, and visitor numbers begin to ease.
Our gravel adventures are scheduled during this period to take advantage of these outstanding conditions, although Tasmania's famously changeable weather means riders should always be prepared for four seasons in a day.
