what to know about cycling in japan?

What type of roads will we ride on in Japan?

Our Japan Cycling Tour has been carefully designed to showcase the country's most scenic and enjoyable roads while avoiding busy traffic wherever possible.

The majority of the tour is ridden on smooth, sealed roads that wind through picturesque countryside, mountain valleys, forests, lakes and traditional villages. Many of these are quiet secondary roads favoured by local cyclists, offering a relaxed riding experience with very little traffic.

As we pass through towns and villages, there are occasional short sections on busier roads, however these are kept to a minimum and are carefully selected by our experienced local partners.

Road surfaces throughout Japan are generally of an exceptionally high standard, making them ideal for road cycling. Climbs are steady rather than excessively steep, rewarding riders with spectacular descents and constantly changing scenery.

Our priority is always to deliver safe, enjoyable riding that showcases the very best of Japan.
