Hobart Half Day Cycling Tours FAQ's

With the Après Vélo Half Day Cycle Tour, you will always have at least one ride guide on the road with the group. Depending upon the group size, there may be two ride guides. We understand that everyone has different levels of fitness and therefore, if necessary, we break into two groups, with a ride guide leading each group.
Please note that there is NO SUPPORT VEHCILE ON OUR HALF DAY TOURS.

We ask all customers to pay the full amount when they book, which confirms their reservation.

Cancellations may occur, if we don’t get a minimum number of bookings, in which case a full refund of all monies paid. However, we will not be liable for any flight or other costs you have incurred.

100%. We cherish the opportunity of designing bespoke tours for groups of friends, corporate clients, teams and families. These tours can be tailor made to your specific requirements including the length of the tour. Anything is possible in terms of the amount of riding you want to do, to the amount of post ride activity you’re interested in, accommodation style and any budget restraints you may have – whatever your timing and interests, please talk to us.

A standard city bike is provided for TOUR 1, alternatively an E-Bike if required.

Flat pedals are provided with both these bike options.

A carbon fibre road bike with sufficient gearing is provided for TOUR 2.

Please let us know in the booking form what cleats are attached to your riding shoes, so we can ensure appropriate pedals have been fitted to your road bike.

Yes, you can. If you have nominated TOUR 2, a relatively light road bike is required with sufficient gearing to manage the climbs, preferably with a 30-32 cassette on the rear.

Weather in Hobart can be unpredictable and plays a big part with each ride.
Therefore each rider must be prepared for rainy weather and colder temperatures. Tasmania can have four seasons in a day.

Cycling specific clothing is preferred for added comfort throughout the ride.

Sneakers for those doing TOUR 1

Riding shoes for those doing TOUR 2

Please be aware that temperatures at the top of Mt Wellington can be freezing even in summer. Please ensure you have warm weather gear with you including winter gloves and a rain jacket. This is very important for added safety and comfort.

Helmet. Can be hired if required.

Water bottle with electrolytes.

Energy nutrition for those doing Tour 2.

TOUR 1 is pretty chilled and easy on flat terrain, and therefore suitable for beginners or those with a moderate level of fitness.

TOUR 2
is not a tour for beginners and is fairly challenging with a lot of climbing.
An appropriate level of fitness and bike riding skills will be required.

TOUR 1 is suitable for beginners and those just wishing to smell the roses and enjoy a cruisy ride.

TOUR 2 is NOT a tour for beginners and riders will need to have had experience on similar terrain (both ascent and descent).

We also expect that riders can ride safely in a bunch situation.
